Katie Parks-Oehmler grew up in West Seneca, NY where she was encouraged in the arts by her teachers, and her Aunt Anita Mengel, to pursue her talent. She first obtained a B.S. in Art Education from Daemen College and went on to pursue an MFA in Painting from Rochester Institute of Technology, where she honed her painting and business skills. Today, Katie works her full-time job and pursues her art career on the side by doing art shows with the East Aurora Art Society and taking on projects like installations and commissioned work including book illustration, murals and portraits. Currently published through Lulu.com. She loves teaching as much as she loves to create, both molding talent and honing visual and technical skills of her students. When she isn't working, she spends her time as a mom, hiking, and blogging and is constantly surrounded by nature to get inspiration.
Katherine is inspired by artists like Van Gogh, Monet and Giacommetti, although her art education background allows her to create art of all styles and mediums.
